When i think about a idol that i have, i always think in Ayrton Senna da Silva. Senna died when i was 7 yeas old, i was a child however he already represented a hero for me, not only a hero driving a car, but a hero as a person because i was contemplate with the opportunity of meet him. My father was friend of Ayrton Senna since his childhood, because they lived in the same neighborhood (Santana).
Senna as a regular person was fantastic, a spirit very developed. He was very humble and also very attentive. I remembered once, he went to the office of my father, and every time that he went to the office, people knew, because he had a gorgeous car. So, after some minutes that he arrived, a long line from people started to appear waiting he leaved to catch an autograph. He was incredible, he leaved the office from my father and he gave an autograph for all that people! I also remembered another story from Senna, when we went to a restaurant, after we ate, he always asked to waiter to do again the same dishes. He asked this, because he made a point of give the same dishes that we ate to his securities.
Talking about his career as a F1 driver, he disputed 162 GPs, with 41 wins, 65 Pole positions and he won 3 championships. His numbers are so incredible that he still have some records that Michael Schumacher didn’t beat. For example, Senna is the only driver who won 6 times at Monaco (considered the most difficult track of F1). Another record that Senna still have is the average of pole positions: 40,37% against 27,2 % from Schumacher, this prove how fast Senna was.
I remembered how was nice the mornings of Sunday. How we felt proud seeing Ayrton won the races, how we forgot the problems that we had, the social problems that Brazil had and felt marvelous seeing not only Senna in the top of the podium, but seeing us, Brazilian people in the top of the world. Senna made a point of show the Brazilian flag every time he won a race, he always dedicate his wins to Brazilian people, he was amazing!
The most incredible race that he won, for me, is his first victory at Brazil (Interlagos 1991). In this race, he proved how genius he was. During the race, he was losing some gears and missing only 10 laps, he had only the sixth gear! However, he didn’t give up, he wish of win a race in Brazil was bigger than the physical strength that he had to do for driving a car with only one gear (I tryed to drive a F1 car with only the sixth gear in the video game, but I didn’t get, it’s impossible), he wish of put Brazil in the top of the world was bigger than the pressure of the second placed (Ricardo Patrese), and he won, he put Brazil in the top of the world, i separated the video of the last 3 laps in this race, it is very exciting:
In the end, when he was in the podium, he didn’t have power to raise the trophy, but one more time, he surprised us, he found an extra power to raise the trophy in one of the most memorable images of F1.
Ayrton Senna was perfect, my last words to prove this, will be about your team. He was Corinthiano

Hey Rafael,
Unfortunately, because I was living in California when Ayrton Senna was popular in his career, I did not get to feel as much about his victories and his death like many Brazilians do. Formula One is not very popular in the States, so I did not get to follow his career closely. But from what people tell me, he was indeed a great person in and out of circuit, in spite of the soccer team he used to root for. You should consider yourself to be a lucky guy to have met him in person. I am sure many other people wish they had had the same opportunity. One of my dreams is to meet Rogerio Ceni in person, and maybe get his autograph on my SPFC shirt. Who knows one day my dream will come true?
